FitHAUS Featured Athlete Erik Sill
We are excited to celebrate our November FitHAUS Featured Athlete Erik Sill. Erik has been attending the gym for a little over a year and has made big progress in that time. Erik not only consistently attends classes, usually bright and early in the morning…but also busts his butt every time he is in the gym. Erik, we’ve seen huge improvements on skills like kipping pull-ups and we know you’ll get that coveted Bar Muscle Up before you know it. We are so happy that you joined the FitHAUS community and can’t wait to see what new skills you master this year!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm a high school administrator for Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, Luther College grad, father of two kids (Avery - 7 on November 4th, Kellan - 4), avid non-fiction reader, and newly real estate investor. Big KC sports fan and master of sarcasm.
2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?
Was new to Long Lake in 2020 so was hoping to find a local gym. Initially learned about the gym from the Quills and it took just one class to convince me to join. Prior to FitHAUS, I attended the LifeTime Fitness Alpha classes in New Hope.
3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?
The community is top-notch! Members have so much fun while working hard and pushing one another to go the extra mile.
4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward? I'm most proud of the fact that I'm working out on a regular basis. This is the strongest I have felt (as a person) my entire life and that says a lot because I just hit 40 last winter! I'd love to be able to do a muscle up! In the meantime, I'm hoping to continue improving with my flexibility and mobility so that can add more weight to lifts while maintaining proper form.
5. How has being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym? Being active at FitHAUS has only spilled into all other aspects of my life. I feel more productive at work, I have more energy to keep up with my active kids, and I absolutely sleep better at night! (Or I'm just old so 9 PM feels like the new midnight.)
6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement? I'm a tall guy so rowing is my jam! My life would be just fine if I never saw Burpee Box Jumps in any of our Metcons moving forward.
7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS? Nothing beats working out with others who will push you to do a couple of extra reps all while laughing and having a good time. This community is filled with individuals who will help you become a better version of you!
