FitHAUS Featured Athlete…Nic and Jill Titze (Team Titze)

We typically feature one athlete at a time, but when it comes to Jill and Nic Titze, it felt almost impossible to feature one without the other! So here it is, our first FitHAUS Featured Power Duo…the Titzes.

Nic has been a member at FitHAUS since July of 2020 and Jill officially jumped on board last January. We do know Nic used some gentle coaxing to get Jill on the FH train…like buying her really cute FitHAUS apparel before she was even officially a member. Thanks Nic;)

From the get go, both Jill and Nic have blown coaches and members away with their natural ability to do all things. Nic quickly took to both barbell and gymnastics skills in CrossFit, and has been Rx-ing workouts from early on. Many of us won’t forget Jill’s second attempt at toes-to-bar when she began stringing several together as if it were an easy task. Jill and Nic are quite the team to say the least.

Jill and Nic, here is what some of your coaches have to say about you:

“When I see either of these two on a class roster, I know we are in for a little something “extra"! Nic and Jill radiate energy and positivity, both individually and that much more when Team Titze shows up. I can always count on a little booty shaking in between reps and an occasional sing along during the chorus of a good tune.

Both Nic and Jill have both progressed by leaps and bounds in the past year. Nic and his butterfly pull ups and Jill killing it in both strength and endurance. No shortage of PRs for these two.

Grateful that Nic and Jill are part of the FitHAUS family!” ~Coach Em

Jill and Nic are quite the team to say the least.

To our Dear Team Titze,

Did you know that once you podium in scaled LDTD, you have to move up to Rx? It’s clear that you have made fitness and wellness a huge part of your life, and we are ever so grateful that we’ve been able to be a part of that! We cannot wait to see what you both do with CrossFit in this next year!

Please read below to learn a little more about this power couple:

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Nic:
Started playing disc golf in '20 during the pandemic and can't get enough. Also, why I'm not in the gym on Wednesdays in the summer.
Jill: I started having Wed nights very available during the pandemic, ha! But I only barely disc golf. I do love being outside mostly in the summer though -- hiking, boating, outdoor yoga, lots of lake time!

2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?

Nic: Joined a kick-boxing gym in '18 and lost almost 50lbs and gained 10lbs of muscle in the first year. Became an instructor in the second year. Then post shutdown, felt a serious plateau and a need to shift from high cardio and high rep dumbbell work to more challenging movements and heavier lifts.

Jill: I was also needing a change up from 7.5y of kickboxing where I also had lost 50lb but was having back/hip problems and just needed something different! After 2020 and still during a really tricky time in life, the change up in our gym life has been exactly the best thing for us!

3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?

Nic: Always something to improve on, always another level

Jill: I had never touched a bar bell before coming to FH, so I love all of my new tricks that are so much fun learning and practicing along the way.

4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?

Nic: When I started, I couldn't deadlift 225#, now I can front squat 225# (I don't like front squats!)

Jill: We used to compete in Spartan races, and I finished one in 3rd for my womens age group! So that was pretty sweet. We were slated to run a Spartan Trifecta (3 different distance races across the country) in 2020.....but as covid would have it, that never happened!

5. How has being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?

Nic: Having a movement lifestyle helps us stay active with our girls and show them a more adventure.

Jill: I agree that role modeling for our kids is for sure the most significant thing I think we're doing. And the ability to find adventure whenever we can is awesome -- if it's wake surfing, sup yoga, downhill skiing, hiking crazy awesome hikes on vacations, or easily running after our 6.5yo who finally decided to learn how to ride a bike just recently!

6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill?

Nic: Favorite would be all things farm work. Least favorite is handstand ANYTHING!
Jill: I don't even know I love it all! Probably practicing my kips. Least fav -- i'm still trying to develop a relationship with the bikes.

7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS?

Nic: You only live once!

Jill: I promise CrossFit isn't as intimidating as it sounds or seems....FitHAUS is such an awesome welcoming community!
