Where do we even start Joanna! If ever there were a poster child for “yes YOU can”…it would be you! You were new to everything at FitHAUS not that long ago… from air squats to pushups. Now you are stringing TTB, pull-ups and working on Barbell snatches. You have busted your butt, and man oh man does it show! We are SO proud of you and continue to be blown away by you each an every class you attend. None of us will forget the day coach Jess yelled out (and maybe had a swear word in there)…”holy *cow Joanna, are those 25# dumbells for snatches?!!”… and you CRUSHED that workout! Your determination and athleticism is barre none…not to mention that we just love and adore you too.

Here is a little bit of info from Joanna-

I have three boys Theo (age 9), Sam (age 7), and Ben (age 4) that keep me very busy! My husband Nick and I both graduated from Orono and were high school sweethearts. Before we had kids, I got my masters degree in education. Once all 3 boys are in school full time, I’d love to work in the school in some capacity. I love to play soccer in the summer with my women’s soccer league and also played hockey throughout most of my youth. We love to spend time with family and friends and enjoy going up to our cabin!

~What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?

I joined FitHAUS because I was looking to find an outlet for myself and do one thing a day that was just for me; not my kids, not my husband. Once covid hit, I wasn’t able to work out as frequently and I wanted to get my body and my mind healthy again! It also helps that my brother, sisters, husband, and brother in law are also there to motivate me!

~What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?

My favorite thing about FitHAUS is absolutely the community and people there. Working out has helped me feel better about myself and my body, but it has also given me a wonderful group of friends who help me, motivate me, and inspire me!

~What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?

Right now, I am most proud of how far I’ve come since I’ve been back 4-5 days a week. I’ve stayed consistent and made it a priority to incorporate the gym into my daily routine. My biggest accomplishment right now is finally being able to do a pull up! I am still working on my killing pulls ups and am motivated to master them!!

~How has being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?

Being physically active has bettered the way I feel about myself and my body, and has given me an outlet outside of being a stay at home mom. It’s easy to lose your identity when you’re a mom and being a member of this community has given me a hobby and motivated me to do and be something other than just mom.

~What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement...(like the one that causes the biggest eye roll when your coach says we are doing "X" today;)

Between barre, Julie’s strength and conditioning, and Jess’s strength and conditioning, it’s hard to pick just one! Jess is such an awesome coach and has motivated me and pushed me to do my best! My favorite movement right now is pull ups or toes to bar. I’m working on perfecting those skills!

My least favorite movement is either burpees or walking lunges!

~What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS?

If you’re looking to join FitHAUS, I would just say go for it! You will not be disappointed and you will be amazed at the things your body can do! I was intimidated to come my first few times, but I’m happy I stuck with it because it’s an amazing place to be!

Keep it up Joanna…you are on FIRE, and we cannot wait to see what this next year brings!
