FitHAUS Featured Athletes Brenda and Matt Trok

One of our favorite things at FitHAUS is when new athletes come in, and we get to watch them make big progress. We get to workout alongside our members and little by little they start making strides and learning new things, moving with intention and confidence. We see all of those little changes and it is so much fun. Then all of a sudden we realize…”HOLY COW, they’ve made SO MUCH PROGRESS!”

That’s exactly what many of our coaches and fellow athletes have said about both Brenda and Matt Trok. Both are incredible athletes and were before they entered FitHAUS doors. Both absolutely stepped outside of their comfort zones, have put in a ton of work, and both have gained SO much strength!

Matt and Brenda, we are so grateful to have you both as part of our FitHAUS community. We’ve shared with you many times that we are so incredibly impressed by your gains! You two rocked Murph, LDTD, and we can’t wait to see what other fitness challenges you guys tackle! Thank you for being an inspiration to all of us!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself…

Matt grew up in Milaca & North Branch, MN and Brenda in Iowa. Accounting brought us together! We met at Deloitte, our first job after college. Matt currently works in finance at Optum Health and Brenda part-time at Girls on the Run Minnesota. We have two boys, Brady, 16, a sophomore at Orono and Ty, 13, an 8th grader at Orono. Not to be forgotten is our chocolate lab, Bailey. We enjoy all outdoor activities we can do with family and friends - hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, ice fishing, Pickleball, Paddle boarding...

2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?
We are both endurance athletes and regularly competed in triathlons and marathons for the last 16 years. In 2021, a day before the Murph event a friend suggested we sign up for the scaled/partner workout. Even though we weren't trained for anything other than the run we had fun. It inspired us to consider adding in strength training as part of our regular workouts 
3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?

The coaches and their dedication to technique. Fun workouts with fun people. Taking classes with our son Brady and watching him get stronger and more confident. 

4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of & what are your fitness goals moving forward?

Joining FitHaus was a bit of a leap for both of us, trying new things you aren't necessarily good at right away is hard. Getting over that hurdle and becoming more comfortable with the movements and seeing progress is really fun. 

5. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement...like the one that causes the biggest eye roll when your coach says we are doing "X" today;)

Brenda - I always appreciate when I see some running in the workout :). 

Matt - I hated cleans when I started but now I''m actually starting to enjoy them!

6. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS? 

Take the leap!
