FitHAUS Featured Athlete Lindsey Bernard
Please help us celebrate FitHAUS Member Lindsey Bernard this May! Lindsey, we have asked to feature you this month, but we’ve noticed your hard work, consistency and effort for a long time! Lindsey has been a FitHAUS members since 2021 and has been regularly attending CrossFit, Strength and Conditioning, Barre, and FRC. Lindsey is one of those athletes who works incredibly hard, but she’s very humble, and you’d never hear her speak to her accomplishments. Linds, we see you showing up for those Wednesday Cardio days…even though you aren’t a fan! Another huge accomplishment is that Lindsey just competed in the CrossFit Open for the first time. Lindsey, you deserve to be celebrated! We are really proud of you..you ARE strong enough! Keep up all the hard work, and keep showing up! Please give Lindsey a fist bump next time you see her.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My current hobbies consist of gardening, pottery, reading, and cooking. Some people have told me I’m a speed reader and my current book count for 2024 is 21 books. However, I think it’s because I drive our kiddo to one of her numerous activities throughout the week and while I wait, I read.
2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?
We recently moved back to Minnesota after being gone for about 10+ years so I was looking for a new place to workout in the area. Before coming to FH, I was doing boot camp style workouts at a gym in Texas.
3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?
My favorite thing would be the variety of workouts and class types. From CrossFit to Barre to Functional Conditioning, the options are great to be able to mix it up!
4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of. Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?
I recently completed the CrossFit Open for the first time. It was one of the more challenging things I have done recently, my note for 24.1 was “Didn’t finish, almost died” speaks for itself. However, it taught me a lot about myself and it made me realize that I was strong enough to try it and I should stop skipping the cardio days.
In the future, I’d love to try the Murph or the Labor Day Throwdown, but I need to work on my running. And by “work on” my running I mean…start running. Haha!
5. How has being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?
Most people don’t know this, but I have an autoimmune disease, being physically active allows me to manage that effectively (along with a good diet). Staying active enables me to get out of bed without a struggle and keeps my body moving in the way it should.
6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement...like the one that causes the biggest eye roll when your coach says we are doing "X" today;)
Deadlifts are my favorite. I feel strong doing them!
Seal rows are my least favorite. I can never figure out how I’m supposed to get into position and it’s too awkward!
7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS?
Show up, that’s the hardest part.
