FitHAUS Featured Athlete Cathy Iverson
Please help us in celebrating Cathy Iverson as our FitHAUS Featured Athlete this February. From day one, Cathy has been a person that brings so much great energy to every class she attends. Cathy is a friendly face that will strike up a conversation with anyone at they gym. Some of us actually refer to Cathy as “Coach Cathy”, because she’s got a pulse on how other class attendees are are feeling during a WOD. You can bet that if you start looking tired on a run, or on wall balls, Cathy is going to say something that will help you dig a little deeper to keep moving. She’ll also be the first person to hand out fist bumps when the WOD is over. Cathy has also volunteered to step in to help out with FNL, Murph, LDTD, and other FH events. Did we mention that Cathy shows up for herself and puts in so much effort in every class. Cathy, we love your work ethic, your dedication to fitness and your active lifestyle. Thank you for choosing us, you are such a perfect fit for the culture here at FitHAUS!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself…
My favorite vacation location. Is Kona Hawaii. I absolutely love the beach and can walk for hours looking for shells. I have a very large shell and beach glass collection.
2. What made you decide to join FitHAUS? What were you doing prior to coming to FH?
I decided to join after talking to Coach Sean and learning about the gym’s environment. After talking to him, I was sold.
3. What is your favorite thing about FitHAUS?
The community and the coaches. I love that every member can modify without feeling guilty. All the members are met by the coaches with what they are capable of doing.
4. What are some of the accomplishments related to physical fitness that you are most proud of? Do you have any fitness goals moving forward?
I am have completed 3 Ironmans -16 marathons and numerous other adventures. Pikes Peak Ascent was amazing but I really enjoyed the Colorado Relay. There is nothing better than running in the mountains in the middle of the night and looking behind you and all you see are headlights from the other runners.
5. How has being physically active bettered your life outside of the gym?
It truly keeps us young. I did a really tough 6 mile hike this summer in Big Sky. I know I would not of completed it if I was not doing CrossFit.
6. What is your favorite class or movement/skill? What is your least favorite movement?
Ok. Snatches are just crazy hard I like all the movements. They all challenge me.
7. What advice would you give to someone looking to join FITHAUS?
Just show up. You can do anything. Be patient. It takes time to see the changes but if you show up on a regular basis you will get stronger - you will move better - your body and mind will thank you. It is so important that as you age you have to keep pushing yourself. There is nothing you can’t do if you set your mind to it and put the work in.
